Geant2 Segmentation Project
February 20, 2008 |
Geant2 PR Group - 20 September 2008
Since the last update on segmentation the Steering Group has been formed to give high level direction and has representatives form 9 NREN’s (not UK). The first meeting was in Paris in September and it verified the objectives of the segmentation work with an overall aim to build a database of European user details to enable accurate and sensible communication. With the size of potential work the first phase is to be limited to looking at pan-European projects (N and so explicit international collaboration), and research institutes with pan-European communications or networking requirements within the 9 steering group countries. The project is building a web based database.
In terms of work phases it spans January to October 2008. The initial desk research will help build the questionnaire to be used in 400 interviews to be carried out in May – July. The database will be designed and built once more information from interviews becomes clearer. Data will include the static data about the institution plus their needs and usage.
The next steering group will approve the questionnaire structure and likely database approach to allow the interviews to go ahead
