TF-PR Group in LisbonTF-PR Group in Lisbon

Session 2, Day 2 TF-PR Meeting in Lisbon 2007

TF-PR Wiki

A short presentation around the TF-PR Wiki and private members area . Likely to be a problematic area as peoples experiences are so diverse and it is not yet clear how the group might use either the Wiki or the shared members area. Also the platforms being used are not intuitive and so people may experience difficulties using the facilities. In any case if the application is not easy and straight forward then it is unlikely that the group will end up using it.

A group photograph of the TF-PR members was taken in the grounds of the host organisation of FCCN

Round Table Session

EUNIS Presentation

Presentation by Ligia Ribereiro an invited member of the EUNIS Board. The European University Information Systems – 127 members including SURF and UCISA along with correspondent, honorary, and corporate (including Blackboard, Sungard, SAP & SUN) members. Also links to national educational organisations including TERENA, Gartner and Educasue/Ecar.

Activities run across events, publications, task forces and an annual conference (2008 in Aarhus in Denmark ), plus a series of workshops. They run a series of awards covering Award for Excellence and e-Learning . EUNIS funded by members and is run by volunteers and a steering group/board. Series of publication and surveys including Top Concerns surveys (in conjunction with UCISA)

Collaborative Spaces

New Janet UK service to provide meeting place for people to meet and share content. Currently a pilot and aimed at schools in the UK, but open to wider use than that. Will aim to identify people with similar educational needs and lead to collaboration. Lead by videoconferencing but can also chare files and other resources. Users can search for each other, message each other, pursue collaboration opportunities, plus blogs and wiki option.

SURF and Light Path

A SURF organised competition to promote the use of light paths. Will be a series of videos of the winners which will help explain and promote light paths. The start of the competition led to low numbers of entrants but towards the end of the competition entries flowed in –this may be because the area is still quite new and innovative
